Aquatic Diseases Mobile App
Goal: Australian Government Department of Agriculture and Water Resources wanted to convert a paper document into an interactive, searchable mobile application.
Description: With a MySQL database designed, data was input via customised WordPress Admin UI. The mobile app developed in IONIC, was compiled for Android, Apple and Windows. While connected to WIFI the app data can be updated via calls to the WordPress JSON REST API.
Outcome: The government department can update the database with new diseases and the latest disease information. The app provides Government employees, aquatic veterinarians, aquaculture, fisherman and the general public with an interactive research tool, to help with early detection and warning of diseases outbreaks in Australian aquatic animals. The app was the most notably used by industry experts in the 2018 South East Queensland outbreak of White Spot Disease in prawns.
